“I managed not to destroy anything.”

As I read about Hemingway in the sun, after being told by my academic adviser (Jenna Hayward, a woman I both fear and deeply respect.) that I can practically graduate today, except for the fact that I need to complete my Senior I.S. Experience, I stumbled across something that gave me reason to pause. Did you know that Hemingway was once challenged to write a story using only six words? He succeeded, and his response was thus:

“For Sale: Baby shoes, never worn.”

Pretty intense stuff, FOR ONLY SIX WORDS.

Being the writer that I am, I imagine that one takes little bits of everything with them in life. This little bit I intend to expand upon. It’s like the little haiku’s I used to write in high school, or even my favorite writing exercise of one-sentence stories. (Thank you, Nick Carpatheos.) So I challenge you, to come up with something similar. I challenge you, the reader, to come up and post your own six letter stories as comments. Whatever you’d like, just six words. The gauntlet has been thrown!
