Brace for Impact!

Brace for Impact!

I’ve been listening to a whole lot of Flobots, Incubus and Radiohead as of late. I think it’s primarily due to the weather. Dreary, rainy days seem to be filled with poetic and artistic musings. I’m going to be doing quite a good bit this weekend. Rainor and Baldur come up Friday evening, which should be awesome in and of itself. Jen’s opera performance is this Saturday. I’m excited to see her preform, but also slightly nervous, mainly because her Mother and sister will be in town for the performance. I want to make a good impression. I always at least try.

The next couple of weeks are bound to be the designated “Hell Weeks”. It’s that lovely time of year that professors dump those lovely end of the year projects on us. I’ve got two final projects for photography, one 15-20 page paper for my 300 level English Class, a Final for Modern Britain History, and no doubt another paper as well as a Final for Children as Readers. I have a particular beef with standardized education, mainly because you can’t apply some dry aspect of British History to figuring your way around downtown Cincinnati, or Chicago, or somewhere else. But we march on, right? Because standardized education will eventually gift us with some kind of job. Just got to keep jumping through the hoops though. But beware, because if you falter, it’s the meat-grinder for you! I’m personally one to believe that a job is a job, hence why it’s called work, not play. I mean, you can get lucky at a job though, and if your lucky enough to find something you like and to get paid while doing it, well, your one of the few truly lucky people in this world who really likes what they do. Oh, and also gets paid to do it. Not like that’s important or anything in this modern world. Ugh. Sometimes I really do want to simply write “Money is addicting” on dollar bills. I know I’m going on a little mini-rant, but it’s been one of that kind of Wednesday. I’ve been fixed like, maybe four or five computers tonight, and I didn’t even get a thank you. It’s frustrating, to say the least at times when people don’t respect what you do. Especially in fixing things. I’ve had people bring in their computers that are flaming little balls of plastic, and I’ll sift through the wreckage and salvage some of their most important and personal pictures, documents, or whatever. Then they bounce on off, all happy and contented, without the slightest word of recognition, let alone thanks. Yes, I’m a slight bit ticked because I haven’t been paid in two weeks, and in trying to reach student employment at 4:05 this afternoon, I got the machine. Am I angry? Yes, work until 5 like the rest of the world, or be like me and work until 8!

I suddenly know how postal workers feel.
