Oh. Man.

Epic couple of days. Not only has Michael Jackson died, but also Billy Mayes and Farrah Fawcett. Quite a strong loss for Generation X. This might sound a little callous, but I really don’t feel so affected by these losses. Granted, Michael Jackson has a ton of inspirational music, and did a wonderful job creating staples within Pop music, but he was a very disturbed and sad individual. Farrah Fawcett, on the other hand, is another huge icon. I think it’s an honest debate if she was a larger sexual icon than Michael. I think that Farrah Fawcett beats the living hell out of Michael as being a sexual icon in a positive light, but I mean, Michael had some pretty twisted in the allegations against him. I’m going to clock him in as a ‘negative’ sexual icon, but that’s not what this little rant is going to be about.

It is sad to see such icons pitted against each other in the media, instead of having equal coverage. I have seen on countless websites as well as news media sites that ‘Michael Jackson is dead’, ‘Jackson found dead’, etc. How many websites had the death of Farrah Fawcett in the headline? I’ll tell you. One. But the articles were never front page.

Anyways, aside from the media mayhem that came from the deaths of super stars, the weekend was pretty demure. Didn’t have much of anything happen, so I suppose that’s a good sign. Pretty steamy weather, but it’s only going to get worse from here. Well, off to greet the next week.
